Scientific Activities & Seminars
Scientific Activities & Seminars at Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) serve as an essential platform for students, lecturers, and the academic community to broaden their scientific knowledge and expand their professional networks. These activities include national and international seminars, guest lectures, workshops, conferences, and academic discussions featuring speakers from academia, research institutions, industry professionals, and alumni. Through these events, students not only gain insights that complement classroom theories but also develop a practical understanding of how knowledge is applied in real-world contexts, particularly in the fields of science, mathematics, technology, business, and social studies.
In addition to enriching knowledge, Scientific Activities & Seminars encourage students to actively participate through scientific paper presentations, group discussions, and Q&A sessions. This experience enhances their communication, argumentation, and critical thinking skills in academic forums. For lecturers, these events provide opportunities to share research findings, receive feedback from peers, and establish cross-institutional collaborations. As a result, the academic atmosphere becomes more dynamic and fosters the emergence of new ideas for research and community engagement.
At the Faculty of Mathematics UPH, seminars and scientific activities often highlight current topics such as machine learning, data science, financial mathematics, as well as theoretical areas including real analysis, topology, and probability theory. Students are encouraged to participate in Math Circle, joint research sessions, and open seminars showcasing the latest research conducted by both lecturers and students. These activities also strengthen students’ soft skills, as they learn to organize events, network with professional speakers, and build confidence in academic forums.
